Applying a Trauma-Informed Approach to Nutrition Education for Newcomer Service Providers

This webinar, featuring speakers from Leah’s Pantry, will teach newcomer service providers about nutrition amid trauma and displacement. Leah’s Pantry is a California-based nonprofit with a nationwide footprint in trauma-informed nutrition education. Their innovative work building and implementing community nutrition and food security programs improves the health, wellness, and resilience of communities throughout the country.

This webinar discusses how good and bad experiences affect our food choices and explores the principles of a trauma-informed approach to nutrition security and ways to teach about healthy eating that respects diverse cultures and the unique experiences of newcomers. Participants will be encouraged to reflect on their relationship with food and how that can affect teaching newcomers about eating well.

This webinar is for newcomer service providers interested in delivering nutrition education. The webinar will not cover food security or food access topics.
